Rancho Santa Fe 2012 Historic Homes Tour

Rancho Santa Fe residents will have a rare opportunity to tour some of the area’s most famous historic homes on July 14 when the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society will play host to their annual summer home tour.

Five homes, including a few designed by famed 1920s architect Lilian Rice, will be included in the tour route, by ticket only. Rice was a master architect who helped to develop Rancho Santa Fe in its earliest days, designing both residential and commercial structures in her signature Spanish style. Eleven of the buildings she designed here are on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Lilian Jennette House, which currently houses Rancho Santa Fe’s Senior Center.

The Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society has been working to archive and preserve the historical records of the village for over 25 years. In addition to the annual historic homes tour, the organization is involved with community education and outreach, and is housed in one of Lilian Rice’s first Rancho Santa Fe designs, the La Flecha house.

Tickets are available to members of the historical society as well as to the general public. Call the Rancho Santa Fe Historical Society at (858) 756-9291 or send an email.
