If you're an opera aficionado, then the San Diego Opera 2012 Gala is not to be missed. On January 28, celebrate the opening night of the 2012 season with a black-tie reception, followed by the San Diego opera's production of Strauss's drama, Salomé. After the opera, join the cast for a night of dining and dancing.
The pre-opera cocktail reception begins at 5:30 pm, followed by the opera at 7 pm. Both the reception and the post-opera festivities will be held at the luxurious US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego, while Salomé will be staged at the Civic Theatre. The post-opera festivities take Salomé's setting, the ancient Middle East, as their theme.
This year's Gala honors Audrey Geisel. Ticket packages begin at $1,250 per person, not including opera tickets. Gala Table packages starting at $15,000 (for a table of 10) include tickets to the performance. All packages include the pre-opera reception, post-opera dinner/dance, acknowledgment in the Gala program, and a specially designed patron gift by Naeem Kahn. It's a great opportunity to benefit from the arts while enjoying a magnificent evening yourself.
