Celebrating 20 years of Halloween frights, the Birch Aquarium is hosting Haunted Aquarium: Sea Monster Mash on October 25th, 26th, and 27th. Wear your favorite costume, dance to live music, and listen as scientists from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography share their deep-sea research. 3. Howl-O-Ween Harvest
At Helen Woodward Animal Center, the animals get dressed to the nines for their spookiest event of the year. Explore the animal clinic, pick miniature pumpkins, and get to know the animals up close with one of the center’s 60-minute or 90-minute programs. All Howl-O-Ween Harvest activities are by appointment only, so you’ll want to make sure you contact the Helen Woodward Animal Center in advance. This programming is perfect for toddlers, preschoolers, and children in kindergarten through sixth grade.
4. Explore Bonita Pumpkin Farm
At Bonita Pumpkin Farm, get lost in an eight-foot-tall corn maze and pick the perfect pumpkin for jack-o-lantern carving. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., this after-school stop is fun for the whole family, with hayrides, a petting zoo, and a mechanical train. While parking and admission to the pumpkin patch and petting zoo are both free, tickets for the other attractions are available for purchase online, so be sure to grab yours before you go.
