Rancho Santa Fe homes are filled with parents and grandparents concerned about their children and grandchildren. As concerned adults, we want to support and helps today’s youth succeed in their future lives.
On January 12th at 7 p.m., Rancho Santa Fe School, located at 5927 La Granada in Rancho Santa Fe, will offer an opportunity to examine how to help today’s children by hosting a showing of the film Race to Nowhere, directed by Vicki Abeles.
Race to Nowhere is a call to action for families, educators, and policymakers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing, and leading citizens. In this documentary, a concerned mother-turned filmmaker aims her camera at the high-stakes, high-pressure culture that has invaded our schools and our children’s lives. Concerns over cheating, disengagement, stress, and depression, and a lack of preparation will all be explored.
Race to Nowhere was selected for the 2009 Film festivals at Mill Valley, Buffalo, and Sonoma, and received the 2010 Audience Award at the Alexandria Film Festival.
