Set aside some time for fun and a good cause on Wednesday, May 2, when the annual Country Friends Spring Membership Luncheon will be held. This year, the local community organization will delight members and non-members with a luncheon, fashion show, and a chance to do a little boutique shopping.The event will also honor 20-year volunteer members Peggy Peck and Nan Werner.
The Country Friends was formed in 1954 to fulfill a mission to “help others to help themselves,” with an emphasis on women, children, and the elderly. To this end, the group runs a high-end consignment shop and holds several fundraising events throughout the year, including the Art of Fashion Runway Show in Rancho Santa Fe every fall, which has taken place for the past 56 years. The Country Friends has raised over $12 million dollars to support causes like Big Brothers/Big Sisters of San Diego, Helen Woodward Animal Center, Ronald McDonald House, YWCA, and Hospice of North County, among many others.
Rancho Bernardo Inn will play host to this always-popular event, providing a beautiful backdrop for the day’s activities, which will be begin at 10:30.
